Can you yodel? Do you love soup? Rachel D. at our Mount Pleasant, SC store has “learn to yodel” on her bucket list and we’re pretty sure she’ll trade one of her delicious soups for lessons! Learn more about our enthusiastic coworker Rachel below:
Q: Tell us your Kitchen & Company story.
A: I started at Kitchen & Company in November of 2015, less than a month after the Mt. Pleasant store opened. My dad told me about this cool new store and the rest is history I suppose! Being a sales associate here is my first job and I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot!
Q: What is your favorite food to cook?
A: Probably soup in general. I really enjoy prep work so I like dishes that have a lot of slicing, dicing, and mincing! I always have to make sure I have enough time to do it though. On the days I don’t have the time to do lots of prep, I just throw everything into my Vitamix and make a bisque! (Thank goodness for the soup setting!)
Q: What is your favorite tool in the kitchen?
A: Gosh, that’s a hard one! I really LOVE my Vitamix blender (I can do almost everything in that machine), but I also really enjoy my All-Clad cookware. I’ve had most of my All-Clad pieces for years, but if you see it or cook on it, you’d think it was brand spanking new!
Q: What is a fun fact no one would typically know about you?
A: My bucket list includes becoming a level one sommelier, becoming a boat captain, getting SCUBA certified, and learning to yodel!
Q: If you could have any person over for dinner, who would it be and what would you cook for them?
A: I’d definitely have Walt Disney over for some good, authentic, Lowcountry cooking! I’d fix the works: Frogmore stew, fried okra, cornbread, collard greens, and a Huguenot torte for dessert!
Q: Tell us about one of your favorite guest interactions.
A: I had a gentleman come in once looking for a cloche. He and his girlfriend were going out to dinner that evening and he was planning to propose! He wanted to put the ring on the dessert plate and cover it with the cloche for a really sweet presentation! We helped him find something that would work and wished him luck. A few weeks later, I recognized him and asked him how it went. Just as he was about to answer his new fiancé rounded the corner to thank us. It was such an honor to help them create such an important memory!
Bonus, a little love from her coworkers:
“She is one of the most enthusiastic people I know! Rachel is very knowledgeable with respect to all of our products and is super helpful with customers and, frankly, all of us. I think everyone would agree, Rachel gives our customers a wonderful heartfelt hello upon entering the store. She is great fun to work with, loves to sing and is totally devoted to all things Disney.”
